Versatility for special applications

BBR technology has proven its ultimate versatility and strength time-and-time-again in special applications – these are often unique projects, requiring a similarly unique engineering approach. Whether for infrastructure, energy, industry, iconic stadiums or towers, we have the technology and expertise to deliver innovative and durable solutions.

Elegant and functional stadiums

The design and construction of a stadium or arena demands both architectural elegance and the highest quality of functionality. BBR technology and know-how is ideally suited to the realization of these unique, flexible and durable structures – and continues to be applied in the creation of venues for many audiences around the globe.

Post-tensioning allows the construction of imaginative yet practical forms and its use is particularly relevant to stadium or arena schemes. For example, for Croatia’s Arena Zagreb project, BBR Adria manufactured, prestressed and installed CONA CMI internal tendons for 86 large curved concrete lamellas to form the main facade and support the roof and building envelope.

The BBR Network also helps to provide an imaginative and sustainable approach to the construction of stadia and arenas with the use of heavy lifting techniques. These assist the post-construction reconfiguring of venues such as Sydney’s Olympic Stadium and the expansion of Bernabéu Stadium, home to Real Madrid football club. And finally, we strengthened beams to accommodate increased structural loads from a new sliding roof over the famous Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in Wimbledon.

Technology for towers

Stunning towers, realized with BBR Network technology and expertise, have become synonymous with their city skylines. The creation and durability of these landmark projects is based on an innovative approach and technological excellence.

The use of BBR post-tensioning and stay cable technology allows a highly individual architectural approach to the design and construction of a tower – often creating a distinctive structure which, without BBR technology, would have been impossible to build. Every tower is unique and, by virtue of its typically inner city location, has special challenges. The realization of each tower can be traced back to this perfect blend of local knowledge and international know-how.
