KB-VT Temporary Stay Cables
for the Construction of the Tamina Bridge (Switzerland)
Until mid of October 15 segments of the concrete arch at the „Valens“-side and 13 segments at the „Pfäfers“-side are cast. The cantilevers are carried by 6 respectively 7 pairs of temporary stay cables, which is about 40% of the total number. Stressing of the cables was done very precisely by use of 12 multistrand jacks, keeping the pylons almost vertical within the given limits.
The temporary pylons have reached a height of 75 m at both sides, comprising three sections of 25 m each. Again they will be furnished with transversal beams on top, connecting the two legs each and accommodating the anchorage bearing plates for the next cables.
