Record anchors for Tasmanian dam

BBR Network member Structural Systems has recently been awarded a contract for upgrading the Catagunya Dam in Tasmania, Australia.

The Catagunya Dam – built the early 1960s – is located in Central Tasmania on the Derwent River and is owned and operated by Hydro Tasmania.
Structural Systems’ task will feature the installation of permanent anchors with the highest breaking load ever installed in Australia to increase the stability of the dam to meet current requirements. The project will exclusively utilize 91 strand anchors up to 85 m long with a breaking load of 25,389 kN!
