Project of the Year 2015

MRT Line & LRT Extension (Malaysia)

This year, the Project of the Year Award recognizes TWO projects carried out by the same BBR Network Member – BBR Constructions Systems (Malaysia) - for overhead railway schemes underway in Kuala Lumpur and its suburbs.

The first MRT line requires three high level stations and BBR Construction Systems (Malaysia) is constructing the 27 precast crossheads needed to support these. Meanwhile, the LRT project requires long span elevated bridges – or ‘special crossings’ – at highway intersections and so the team is constructing post-tensioned piers to carry the rail viaduct. Work has included constructing a PT pier for the longest special crossing bridge which has a tight 122m radius curvature.

BBR Construction Systems (Malaysia) has devised leading edge post-tensioned solutions which they are now delivering on site using innovative methodology.
