New Zealand’s first cable stayed bridge

Supported by BBR Stay Cable

The new Ormiston Road cable stayed bridge has been completed - and represents a structural landmark for New Zealand, as it is the country's first modern major stay-cable road bridge. The BBR cables comprise up to 144 individual tensile elements, which are individually galvanized and housed within a tight polyethylene sheath, filled with a proprietary corrosion inhibitor. Many congratulations to BBR Construction Techniques Group Limited for their work on this nationally pioneering structure - the Global BBR Network of Experts have so far installed stay cables for over 300 structures around the world.
