Trio of Danube bridges for BBR Network

Amazing stay cable structures in Vienna, Belgrade and Vidin-Calafat

In Vienna, Austrian BBR Network member VORSPANN-TECHNIK (VT) has strengthened the existing cable-stayed Donaumarina Bridge which has a main span of 186 m. Twenty new stay cables have been installed to carry additional loads associated with the U2 metro line.
Meanwhile, in Belgrade, construction work has just started on a new landmark bridge over the river Sava which flows into the Danube. The 929 m long single-pylon cable-stayed Sava Bridge has a main span of 376 m, six traffic lanes and a double track light railway. VT is supplying and installing new BBR HiAm CONA strand stay cable technology – second longest stays in Europe.
The third project on this important river is being carried out by BBR PTE (Spain). They are installing BBR HiEx CONA stay cables and BBR saddles for extradosed bridges for the 1,971 m long combined road and rail Vidin-Calafat Danube Bridge, between Romania and Bulgaria.
