BBR Project of the Year 2007

Navia River Viaduct, North Spain

The Navia River Bridge is situated in Asturias, in northern Spain. The main characteristics of the Navia River Viaduct are the two 160 m central spans held up by two arches. Amongst the vast number of applicants, the Navia River Bridge convinced the jury because of the wide range of BBR post-tensioning systems that have been used – stay cable, internal and external prestressing (massive 42 strand tendons) and bars. In addition, BBR heavy lifting strand jacks and BBR auto-propelled robots which placed the jacks inside the deck were used. Congratulations to BBR PTE (Spain) for an excellent execution and innovation in post-tensioning.
